I didn't intend for these songs to be put together in an album. They were each sketches, which grew in different ways throughout four years of a nomadic lifestyle.
The result is an account of great musicians and friends that I’ve met, wonderful and terrible places I’ve passed through, chaos and order, good weather and English weather.
It is a mix of strict ideas and very collaborative elements.
I mostly recorded this on the move with one microphone and in whichever room was available. The musicians on some of the tracks had sometimes never met each other. It was mixed almost entirely on a pair of headphones and laptop speakers.
The album features 52 musicians of 16 nationalities and was composed, recorded and mixed in 15 countries.
